Flesh vs Spirit
Rev. D. K. Onuoha : Faith X-ray : 29-06-2016
Topic: What voice do you hear/listen to?
Heb. 3:15, Rev. 3:20
You can choose to open or close your heart against anything you hear. You have the ability to lock your heart against any voice you hear or listen to. You can allow yourself to be driven around by what you hear. The word you pay attention to will either enslave, torture, torment, destroy you or liberate you and bring joy and victory to your life. If you listen to wrong voices, you will spend your life in misery. There are 4 kinds of voices that can make or mar you. They operate through your mind. Some of these voices work against your faith. They are:
1>The voice of logic. Rom. 1:21, 1Cor. 2:4-5 It is based on human wisdom. As long as it seems sensible, you can do it. It can be scientifically proven. 2Cor.10:5 The voice of reasoning will always oppose the word of God. It can be about a sickness that science has certified incurable.
2>The voice of the flesh. 1Jn.2:15-16 It is the voice of your feelings. This is when you go by your emotions or feelings. You act according to how you feel. It goes against the fourth voice. Rom.8:6-8 It is when you're carnal-minded. You're operating outside the will of God. You cannot please God.
*How you will know the right voice is when you weigh every voice you hear with the Word of God.
When you pay attention to these voices, you violate the law of conscience and you violate the law of God. Prov. 4:20
3>The voice of the enemy. It is always loud and clear. It always threatens you in order to bring fear. Jn. 10:4-5 Listening means paying attention to it. The ear that hears and understands is the ear that hears, meditates on the word and tries to find out how the word can impact him positively.
*As a believer, every negative voice is a stranger. It will distract you from God's voice Is. 30:21.
The devil speaks through people. Beware of preachers or people with the spirit of divination. Check any prophecy that brings fear instead of peace to you. When you have the Holy Spirit, you will always have a witness in your spirit if it is the Voice of God. You must occupy your mind with something or the devil will occupy it for you with negative things.
4>The voice of your human spirit. It is the voice of your conscience. God does not live in your mind or your physical body, The Holy Spirit resides in your spirit. Your spirit is the real man. You need to train your human spirit to know when God speaks. Rom. 8:16. You hear from your spirit through an inward witness. Ps. 32:8. The problem believers have is laziness. They don't have time for the Holy Spirit. Some of us make mechanical prayers and don't wait and listen to hear what the Holy Spirit has to say, even after praying. It is an inward voice or prompting. The Holy Spirit always wants to talk to you and direct you, your part is to listen. Rom. 9:1 Your conscience if you're born again is the safest voice to rely on to guide you through every other voice.
*Worry is dangerous. Never allow yourself go into the state of worry and anxiety.
When you listen to the voices of logic, the flesh and the enemy, the result is fear. As faith comes by hearing the Word of God, fear comes by hearing and meditating on the wrong voices. It destroys your faith.
1 Sam. 17:11 The children of Israel were afraid because they heard the voice of Goliath, meditated on it and were intimidated. David on the other hand remembered God's Word concerning those who speak against God. Instead of accepting what Goliath said, he spoke against what Goliath said.
*A believer should have the spirit of discernment. Learn to know when a word is from God or not.
Stop listening to these strange voices. Avoid negative comments and discussions that will affect your faith. If you shut your ears from them, your faith will rise.
